Motivated by his community engagement, Patrick’s four years serving on the District of Peachland’s Council has allowed him to identify key sectors for improvement.

EFFECTIVE & ACCOUNTABLE LEADERSHIP

  • ESTABLISH a strong team with the elected Councillors and the District Staff

  • ALLOCATE cost-effective resources to investigate issues, achieve CONSENSUS to create a defined plan of action

  • IMPROVE communication: timely, relevant community communications from the Desk of the Mayor

  • A mayor that ENGAGES with & LISTENS to the Community (Citizens and Businesses)

ACCOUNTABILITY TO TAXPAYERS

  • ADDRESS the needs of all neighbourhoods above Highway 97

  • REDUCE red tape

  • IMPROVE the planning department permit response times

  • AVOID cost overruns on the Protective Services Building (Fire Hall)

  • TRANSPARENCY around the use of taxpayers’ dollars

 

BUILD RELATIONSHIPS with Provincial and Federal Governments

  • PARTNER with all levels of government for increased, sustainable economic growth

  • SECURE infrastructure funding for sewers, roads, and sidewalks

  • ADVOCATE for a reliable 2nd electricity transmission line to Peachland

  • LOBBY Interior Health for improved local medical services

 

STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING

  • REDUCE dependence on outside consultants by taking advantage of staff & residents’ expertise

  • IMPROVE project planning, oversight, and execution

 

BALANCED APPROACH TO DEVELOPMENT

  • PARTNER with the Province for affordable family housing for tenants and owners

  • ADVOCATE & SUPPORT initiatives for diverse housing options for all ages

  • CONSULT with residents to restart Downtown Revitalization

  • RESPONSIBLE rezoning to accommodate growth

  • REVISIT our vision for Beach Avenue. ESTABLISH CR3 zoning to limit the height of the frontage of Beach Ave.

 

PROTECT AND PRESERVE PEACHLAND’S WATERSHED

  • EXPLORE the extension of District boundaries to incorporate more of our watershed

  • PRESERVE vital resources for generations to come

  • LOBBY for responsible logging & best practices for conservation and longevity

 

SUPPORT COMMUNITY GROUPS

  • EXTEND non-financial expertise and opportunity to non-profit groups to improve leisure, education,

conservation, health &wellness in Peachland

 

SUPPORT BUSINESS COMMUNITY

  • WORK with the Peachland Business Community to improve the local economy and create jobs

  • RESTART consultation for downtown revitalization

ENGAGE YOUNG RESIDENTS AND FAMILIES

  • LISTEN to and ADVOCATE for their issues and needs

  • ENCOURAGE participation in their community

  • PARTNER with a private organization to get A DAYCARE CENTRE in Peachland
